Why should we bother with coaching?

What is coaching good for? We could do good with powerpoint, some emails and directives to our employees. Why to use coaches?
Let us explain why.
Every successful change follows an ADKAR pattern. This acronyme stands for:
Awareness - people need to be made aware about changes on horizon first. This can be done on awareness sessions, all-hands meetings, etc.
Desire -we need to provide some "value" to employees. Something beneficial to them, so that they would be willing to follow.
Knowledge - people need to be trained on the subject of change. This requires series of face-to-face and online trainings.
Ability - people need to transfer the KNOWLEDGE of stuff into real ABILITY to do them. (Obviously there is a difference between knowledge and ability). This is what coaching is for!
Reinforcement - implemented changes fade out, if they are not reinforced by leadership. Coaches provide feedback to management team - and build course-correction tactics in case if new practices/principles become ignored and old habbits return on scene.

Coaches play a crucial role in ABILITY / Reinforcement. It is very similar to learning how to drive a car. You can read tons of books describing good principles of driving, but unless you start doing it, your ABILITY to drive is equal to zero. And in order to avoid (sometimes fatal) faults you need a skilled person by your side. In a driving school it is a teacher. In a journey of company transformation is is a coach.
That's why.
